MAY 2007 - Groucho passed from Systemic infection as we did not get to him soon enough. Chico has been adopted into a wonderful new home and Harpo's adoption is pending.

I picked up the 3 Bostons, a 10 month old, 9 and 10 year old Bostons on Friday 12/8/06. I am thankful that the shelter contacted us to take them as they are all in pretty bad shape. Thank goodness, that this shelter has the dogs best interests at heart.

The babies really looked fairly good in the pic they sent that is attached. BUT these little ones are in rough shape. Their hair is very coarse and Has lots of bald patches. All of them are pretty thin. I am sending a pix of the 3 together and then some of the baby that is in such bad shape.

\

They ALL have beautiful faces. They are small. I would say the biggest one may weigh in at 15 lbs and should be 19 or more The baby boy is tiny. I would say he is maybe 8-10 lbs if that and should be around 14. He is just pitiful with the demo, no hair, and what looks like a staph infection and makes me want to cry. It is a good thing the owners didn't surrender him to me, I mighta had to been bailed outta jail. I might not have been able to be nice be nice BE NICE and get the dog and get them the hell out of there like I usually am when I take owner surrenders. This little one is blowing snot too so he really feels bad. You can tell they haven't had much attention at all, but 2 of them really want to be loved.

I got AKC papers on all of them and they have awful names. What were these people thinking? I am really gonna have to send a letter to AKC about this person when I mail the registration papers numbers in saying they have been neutered. I think they need to know this person needs to be investigated if she is breeding dogs that are always in bad shape. They may not do anything, but it will make me feel better. I would be surprised if the shelter didn't press charges against this person.

I love the 3 new babies, But they are breaking my heart. I really hate to go to mommas this weekend for our already planned Christmas holiday and leave them even though I know that Micah will spoil them rotten, even more than I do. :) They all have beautiful faces and once they are fixed up they will be very handsome dapper little guys and I am hoping really hard they will find someone to love em even though they are older babies.

The little old one Prince/Chico with the collar on had a 2003 tag, so I thought I would call the vet and see if I could get any info. The lady was real nice. She told me right off these dogs were from a horrible breeder that has lots of demodex, heartworms and her dogs were always in very rough shape when brought in and she didn't bring dogs in often as she gave her own shots. She asked me to please neuter the dogs. I think at first she didn't realize I was a rescue group, but I gave her all my information. :) Prince had heartworms in 2003 and was treated which was why he had a rabies tag. His collar was also almost embedded in his neck as it was getting sore back there.

Prince the one with the collar was born May 31 1997 so that makes him a little over 9 going on 10. He was treated for heartworms in 2003. These pix don't show how skinny this little fella really is. The vet lady said to make sure that I test them for heartworms as this lady is notorious for heartworms in her dogs. I always retest them just to make my mind at ease even if they have been tested in the shelter. :)

The other old guy with the crooked sticking out toofer is named GRIEF!!! CAn you imagine. Sheesh. He was born Nov 10 1996 and that makes him just now 10. And the only thing he has been to the vet for was a swollen foot with multiple draining fistulas in 05. where it looks brindle in the pix that is where the fur is very very thin

The puppy just came with a registration app. and no name whatsoever. He was born 1/27/06 so he is just 10 months old. And he has NEVER been to the vet. :( I just hope she actually gave him a da2lppc shot. I sure would hate for this little one to catch distemper or parvo or something equally horrible from being in the shelter and possibly being exposed to something BAD as these babies were all in the sick room. :( The demo babyboy has the snots really bad.

I forgot to say they all have the squirts too. Looks like they may have coccidia or another problem in the gut. ;( They may also have urinary tract infections cause the shelter said they gave them meds for them. Thank goodness for a caring shelter who tries to help the animals as much as they can with their limited budget and who call us rescues to help when they need us is all I can say. God will bless them when they need it.

Story is... BREEDER DOGS and owner surrendered when they got old and too sick to breed. Sheeesh. Use em to make money, but can't spend any money to take care of em. Poor little tykes, but I am telling you now, these little ones Christmas came early this year cause they ain't gonna EVER have to sleep on no cold damn ground ever again. I am pretty sure that they were sleeping like that cause when I walked them outside here the first time to try and get them to do their business, they went over to the side of the house and curled up real tight into a ball all by themselves like they were bunking down for the night OUTSIDE as if they never had NO DOGHOUSE!!! Just about broke my heart I am telling you. YOu know me I have just in case it rains and they can't get back in the house through the doggie door without melting dog houses out there even though no one ever uses em so it really makes me wonder if they ever had any protection from the elements. These babies didn't even look at the dog houses, just went and curled up as tight as they could next to the house. Needless to say, I am not taking them outside a whole lot just 3 times a day or so and just cleaning poop when it happens. These babies need to know that they aren't gonna be tossed out in the cold ever again.

I was thinking that they were a family when I got the note from the shelter that they were owner surrendered and that I was gonna have to try and find someone who wanted to adopt the group, but everyone of them goes his own separate way so they musta been kept in separate pens as they are not bonded. So I can adopt them out separately which is a good thing as it is hard to adopt out 2 together much less 3.

I really don't know about people some times. ;( These are some beautiful dogs and NEVER should have had to live like that. They should have spent their entire lives being someone's beloved companion and spoilt to no end. Hopefully, I can find some folks who will decide that these little old guys deserve to live the ends of their lives with all the love that they never got before.

They are so quiet and unassuming and they now on Sunday morning ALL have the snots. I am giving them clavamox since they haven't had any but owner shots given to them that I know of. Pray real hard they ain't getting distemper or parvo cause the idiot owner didn't give them shots at the vet. The Chico/Prince boy is so liteweight that he just feels like his bones are hollow to me when I pick him up like my Little Napoleon's did right before he passed. he is the skinny one. I don't think he weighs maybe 11 lbs. The little Grocho/grief boy has a cough that sounds like he either has heartworms bad or he has/had heart problems and he has big patches of hair loss as well. :( And my little Harpo/Babyboy is just so eager for a little love and attention and treats it is pathetic. This morning when I got up to go the bathroom, he was right in there just kinda inched up close to me sitting with the front legs a reared up on me for attention or maybe he thought I had treats I dunno. I have got him started on the ivermectin for the demo and I haven't given him a bath yet cause it is so cold out and he is sick and I don't want to make him any sicker than he is, but I may have to turn the heat up on real high and close off the bathroom and give him a bath in selson blue today. I just can't stand it as it makes me hurt just to look at him and I am not inside his skin. If anyone can think of anything else I can do for him, let me know. I got some suppliments to give him as well for his skin and hair each time I feed him. He also walks funny and I don't think it is patellas, probably poor nutrition and the bones didn't form right or something. I will have the vet check him out on Monday since she was closed after I picked them up.

They all ate up their hotdogs with meds pretty good this monring. the trick with grouch/grief is to give him as small a piece of hot dog as you can as he cant seem to keep a bigger piece in his mouth and it shoots out and he has lost his pill and his treat. Both he and Prince may need some dental work. I have a feeling these babies are gonna cost us some big bux. But that is ok, God has provided by having wondeful people to give to pay for the vet bill when we needed it most so I am sure that he will provide lots of love and giving in folks hearts about these boys too. :)

We sure would appreciate any assistance you want to send our way. Thank you and please pray that we can fix all 3 of them up and find them wonderful new families in the new year. :) I will not take apps on them until I am sure that they are gonna get well and be adoptable. Thank you so much. :)

BTW, Bruce my Boxer likes them. The old uns ain't too sure of Bruce, but that is ok. Bruce will win them over to know that Boxers are a Boston's best friend. :)

The photos below are pretty graphic and they are of Harpo Marx the baby boy of the group. Do not look if you have a weak stomach. Thank you.
