I got a call from a volunteer at the shelter telling me that they had a little Boston that
was the worst case of mange they had ever seen. Her opinion was that if I didn't take him, the
poor puppy would be probably be euthanized when his time was up because no one would adopt a
dog with mange as bad as he had it. So I went down when his time was up and when I saw the
little fellow, there was no way I was leaving without him. That poor boy did not have one
single hair on his body. He did not even have any hair in his paw pads. This is the baldest
mange baby I have ever gotten.
I was told that he was a stray, but that he had a collar and tags on. The shelter tried to
contact the owners by sending letters and leaving a note on their door. The owners did NOT
contact the shelter before Pez's time was up at the shelter and the shelter called me to pick
the puppy up.
Pez really didn't feel very well when he first came home with me. His skin was burning up
and red as fire. He had scabs all over and his skin had pebbled up. If he bumped up against something or scratched he would bleed. It made me want to cry for him as I know that had to hurt. He sleeps a lot. I have
given him his baths, daily meds and loved him. Even bald this is the cutest and lovingest
little fellow.
One thing I can say is that this baby loves his new jammies to keep him warm and feel good
against his skin. Pez likes to snuggle up with you in the bed. He sleeps right next to my
pillow snuggled under the other pillows and breathing in my face. Pez just trots around in
his Jammies looking so cute. His Jammies were made and donated by Deni with Snooty Paws.
Aren't they cute? And wasn't that a very nice thing for her to do for one of our special
babies? Thank you Deni!!!
Pez loves to play with the other dogs, but can get a little in your face for some of them.
He wants to be the center of attention and is a typical Boston puppy. He will need
everything any other Boston puppy needs, obedience training, love and patience.
