URGENT NEED!
Latest Update 2/25/12

PAWPAW PARADISE - Weeping Wounds Care
Warning Graphic Photos!

1/8/12 - We have cut back on the number of dogs we are intaking due to not enough fosters and my parents being ill in Tennessee. It is not easy to travel back and forth monthyly and foster dogs while running a rescue. I had just said I was full and wasn't taking any more dogs with the dogs I have already committed to, but.. this boy spoke to me and my volunteer Martha who picked him up for me. Please pray that he will heal up and not get a systemic infection. We thank you for your prayers.

The shelter had him on antibiotics and pain meds. For which I thank them. Anyway, Martha picked him up and saved me hours of driving down and back to pick him up. THANK YOU MARTHA!!! YOU ARE A WONDERFUL VOLUNTEER AND I LOVE YOU!!!

This is what Martha has to say about him, QUOTE: Introducing PawPaw Paradise; he was at the Garland shelter. PawPaw appears to have been mauled by a dog. He has a large open weeping wound on his neck and two deep weeping (and very stinky) puncture wounds on his back. He also has scabs on one ear and some very rough scabby feeling places around his neck. The Garland shelter had him on antibiotics and pain medications which I am continuing.

PawPaw is a very sweet boy who was trying to give me kisses even when I was cleaning his wounds and he was shaking like a leaf. I gave him a warm bath with baby shampoo and cleaned him with some peroxide and applied a topical medication packing it in to the puncture wounds on his back.

PawPaw ate some TOTW like he’d been starving (he may be a chow hound as he isn’t skinny) and has taken care of his potty business outside. I had to wrap a leash around his middle to take him outside as I doubt he is going to want a harness or collar near his wounds right now. I think once he is healed he will be a very playful boy. He tried to play tug with Rocky, but I think it hurt so he stopped. He wants to be sitting on my lap and is going to be a cuddle bug. My guess is he is about 5-6 years old and weighs around 20 pounds. His teeth have some tarter. He has fairly good muscle tone. I really like this little guy. END OF QUOTE

Thank you so very much for your prayers and support for this sweet little feller and all our other wonderful dogs.

We at American Boston Terrier Rescue have no ongoing sponsers, subsidies, grants or other steady supporter paying for the vetting care of the rescue dogs. All vet bills, transportation, dog food and anything else the dogs need are paid for from donations, adoption donations and my own pocketbook. Any Donations are always appreciated.

ABTR is very grateful for the your support. Your prayers are so appreciated as well as the donations for his vet care. All donations raised in excess of PawPaw's expenses will be used for the care of the many recooperating dogs in our rescue program as well as our older or handicap issue dogs who will probalby never be adopted, but still need our love, vet care, dog food and Prayers. Thank you again for your donations and support. You will NEVER know how much they are truely appreciated! hugs, Wanda

2/25/12 - Just a few days after we got him, the poor guy came down with a bad case of kennel cough with the green snots on top of all his wound problems. Luckily that only lasted for 3 weeks and he is feeling much better now that he can breathe and isn't trying to cough his lungs up.

PawPaw is a very tolerant patient and did well with wound cleaning. As you can see his wounds have healed up nicely in the later pix I took. He has some scarring around the insides of his back legs as well as all round his neck with a few places on his body and front legs. His hair is filling them in. I don't know if it will ever completely cover the scars on his body.

I want this guy to find a great home. He deserves one. PawPaw loves people, petting and is just an all around great little dog. loves to go outside and playfully chase the cats. He is fine with the cats in the house and doesn't chase them, but those outside cats run and he thinks it is a great game, so he chases them with great enthusiasm.

PawPaw is doing very well from his heartworm treatment. He is in good condition and ready to find a new home. Whoever decides to adopt our PawPaw is going to love him to pieces. He is one of the best natured dogs I have ever had here. He gets along well with the other dogs even though he had the snot beat out of him by a dog when we got him. I will really miss him as I have gotten very attached to him.

I want to thank you all that have sent donations as well as your prayers. Thank you!!!
Hugs,
Wanda
