 Boston Terriers
The Legacy - Author Unknown
When humans die,
they make a will
To leave their homes
and all they have
to those they love.
I, too, would make a will
if I could write.
To some poor wistful, lonely stray
I leave my happy home,
My dish, my cosy bed,
my cushioned chair, my toy.
The well loved lap,
the gentle stroking hand,
the loving voice,
The place I made in someone's heart,
The love that at the last could help me to
a peaceful painless end
Held in loving arms.
If I should die, Oh do not say,
"No more a pet I'll have,
to grieve me by it's loss"
Seek out some lonely, unloved dog
And give my place to him.
This is the legacy I leave behind -
'tis all I have to give.
Do I Go Home Today - Sandi Thompson
My family brought me home cradled in their arms.
They cuddled me and smiled at me, and said I was full of charm.
They played with me and laughed with me, they showered me with toys.
I sure do love my family especially the girls and boys.
The children loved to feed me, they gave me special treats.
They even let me sleep with them all snuggled in the sheets.
I used to go for walks, often several times a day.
They even fought to hold my leash, I'm very proud to say.
These are things I'll never forget a cherished memory.
I now live in a shelter without my family.
They used to laugh and praise me when I played with that old shoe.
But I didn't know the difference between the old ones and the new.
The kids and I would grab a rag for hours we would tug.
So I thought I did the right thing when I chewed the bathroom rug.
They said that I was out of control, and would have to live outside.
This I did not understand although I tried and tried.
The walks stopped, one by one; they said they hadn't time.
I wish that I could change things, I wish I knew my crime.
My life became so lonely, in the back yard on a chain.
I barked and barked all day long to keep from going insane.
So they brought me to the shelter but were embarrassed to say why.
They said I caused an allergy, and then, kissed me goodbye.
If I'd only had some classes, as a little pup
I wouldn't have been so hard to handle when I was all grown up.
"You only have one day left," I heard the worker say.
Does this mean a second chance? Do I go home today?

Hello to all of our ABTR Friends and Volunteers!
We all love Boston Terriers - that's no secret. I propose we step it up and make 2013 the Year of the Boston Terrier!
I bet you're thinking, "Wow, that sounds like a great idea, but how can I help make 2013 the Year of the BT?" I'm glad you asked...
You can start by reaffirming your commitment to your own Bostons. Hold your little furkins close and tell them you love them. Remember to give them that extra scratch behind the ear, belly rub, or kiss on the nose each day. It's the little things that add up and make a difference!
Next, you can make a commitment to support American Boston Terrier Rescue in some small way. Volunteer to pick up a Boston in need from a shelter, volunteer to foster a dog (pretty please!), put your talents to work to create some wonderful item for use in one of our upcoming fundraising auctions or raffles, set aside a small portion of your tax refund and donate it to the dogs in ABTR's foster program, join our FaceBook community, sell something on eBay and list ABTR as the beneficiary, or sign up for our monthly sponsorship program at:
For as little as $10 a month, you can play a very important role in supporting ABTR's foster program. Every cent we receive from monthly sponsorships is applied directly to the dogs' care. It is used to pay down our vet bill and to purchase wholesome food and the necessary medications and preventatives. Best of all, 100% of your monthly sponsorship donation is tax deductible.
Those of you who frequent our chat lists are aware that ABTR has been doing more with a lot less for the past several years. The number of dogs needing our help continues to grow, but donations have decreased by approximately 50% since 2007/2008. We do our best to offer fundraising opportunities that are fun and relevant, but we know that everyone grows weary of constant fundraisers and donation requests so we're going to try something a little different this time.
We hope you'll consider donating just $2.50 a week - $10 a month - to help us help dogs who aren't as fortunate as our own beloved pups. It's a simple monthly draft via Paypal so you don't even have to think about making a donation. Just sign up for our sponsorship program, and Paypal will take care of the rest.
If you can think of additional ways to help make 2013 the Year of the BT, we'd love to hear from you! The number of BTs in need continues to grow, and I know that together we can help more dogs than ever in 2013!
Thank you all for your continued support,
Heidi and the ABTR Gang

ABTR Private Label Wines
What's the perfect gift for that special Boston Terrier loving friend or family member who has everything? How about their favorite wine? Celebrate any occasion and help a rescued Boston Terrier with ABTR's very own private label wine collction!
Order at www.BenefitWines.com/boston, or phone in your order at (978) 297-5477.
Thank you for supporting American Boston Terrier Rescue!
Hint: Shipping costs for a single bottle may seem a bit high, but that's because shipping alcohol incurs a $12 up front fee and an adult's signature. Order multiple bottles (like six or more) to get maximum shipping savings. ABTR recommends ordering multiple bottles at once ~ think birthdays, Mother's Day, Father's Day, anniversaries and holidays, or order with a friend and share the shipping cost!

URGENT NEED!
American Boston Terrier Rescue has taken more than 300 Boston Terriers into our program this past year. WE do not turn a Boston down if we have space available no matter how old they are or what is wrong with them. ABTR sees their suffering and knows they need our help, so we offer them help.
Won't you please consider pledging just $10 to help these Boston Terriers get the care they need? ABTR is committed to doing all we can for them, but our resources have been stretched enormously over the past year and we really need some help to give these dogs the chance they deserve. We're grateful for each and every contribution. Thank you.
ABTR is a 501c3 charitable organization and every penny you donate is tax-deductible.
For Tax information on what is and what is not deductible, please consult a tax professional.
An AMAZING gift idea for Mother's Day, Father's Day, a birthday, Christmas, or any other special occasion! Affordable, personal and incredibly thoughtful!
Donations
Any and all Donations are always needed and welcome. If you wish to donate to American Boston Terrier Rescue, please go to
www.paypal.com and use the recipient name of donations@AmericanBostonTerrierRescue.org or you can mail a check to the address below.
If you wish to donate for vet expenses on our dogs, please go to paypal and use the recipient name of grandaveanimal@att.net and make a note that it is to apply to vet expenses for American Boston Terrier Rescue's dogs. Or you can make your check out to Dr. Cindy Westbrook and mail to the address below. We appreciate all donations for vetting as sometimes we owe our vet in excess of $2000 when we get a large influx of special needs and heart worm positive dogs in.
PLEASE MAIL ADOPTION FEES or DONATIONS TO:
American Boston Terrier Rescue
P O Box 525
Sanger, TX 76266
Thank you for your support.
We at American Boston Terrier Rescue have no ongoing sponsers, subsidies, grants or other steady supporter paying for the vetting care of the rescue dogs. All vet bills, dog food and anything else the dogs need are paid for out of the adoption donations and my own pocketbook. Any donations are appreciated.
